Full EP Details & ‘The Rider’ Available to Download for Free

For those who have been following us over the last few months you will know that we have been hard at work on our EP for some time and it is now brilliant to finally have the finished article. The artwork has been sent to the printers and the songs have been sent off to be mastered at the famous Metropolis Studios.

As a big thank you to everyone who has helped out and supported us over the past year we would like to give you all the chance to download ‘The Rider’ from our EP for free. You can download ‘The Rider’ by visiting our new website at http://www.deadwaxband.co.uk.

I can also now confirm to all of you the full track listing of our debut EP which is to be self-titled and also give you a preview of the artwork. It was very difficult to pick which tracks were to go on the EP as we had five which were all potential candidates, however we all think that we have got the track listing just right. The initial concept for the artwork came from close friend and up and coming artist Tim Head and the sleeve design was created by Dan England.

1. Indigo 2. Shoot You Down 3. The Rider 4. Throne

In the lead up to the release of the EP we will be promoting it as much as possible, so this is where we also need you guys involved. Please sign up to the Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Deadwax/59176838668) and introduce your friends to our music, by doing this we can get our music out there quicker and build a momentum going into 2011. Just five minutes of your time can really help us so any help is greatly appreciated.

On a final note, we will also be previewing our final EP track ‘Throne’ from tomorrow. As per usual the previous track ‘Indigo’ will be taken down from Myspace when ‘Throne’ is uploaded. The next time you will hear it will be when the EP is released on December 6th.

EP Track ‘Indigo’ Is Up Now

Our next EP track ‘Indigo’ is now available to listen to exclusively on Myspace for one week only. Thank you to everyone who has listened to and commented on ‘Never Knew That You Wanted To’.

Next week on Monday 8th November will see the release of ‘The Rider’ as a free download, we will let you know more details later this week about how you can get your hands on it. We will also be previewing the final EP track on the same day. Also this week we will also be unveiling the EP artwork and full track listing- exciting stuff so keep checking back for that.

Finally I would like thank the huge number of you that turned up at Proud Galleries on Friday to support us and welcome our new member Richard. We all had a great time and it was really awesome to play some tunes that we haven’t played in a while. Our next gig is at The Dublin Castle in Camden on Thursday 11th of November. We are on at 8pm, so get down early!

EP Preview: ‘Never Knew That You Wanted To’ Up Tomorrow

So another week has passed which means that it is just about time for the next of our EP previews. Thank you to all who have listened to ‘Shoot You Down’ and for all the great feedback. The next track which will go up tomorrow will be ‘Never Knew That You Wanted To’ which should be up on the myspace early tomorrow morning, so keep checking back for that.

In other news, we are currently very busy in preparation for the release of our debut EP. We have some strong ideas for the artwork, and it is currently being designed by up and coming artist Tim Head. Tim was a natural choice for designing the cover and we are very excited to have him on board, particularly as we admire his work so much. We should hopefully get some final designs sent over this week, so keep checking back for that.

Finally, thank you for everyone who has gotten in contact regarding the gig at Proud this Friday (29th October). We have now filled up our guest list, but tickets are still available. It really is looking like it is going to be a really great gig so we hope you can all attend

‘Shoot You Down’ Up Tomorrow

So a week has passed and it is now time to say your goodbyes to ‘The Rider’, but don’t worry you’ll be able to hear it again at the beginning of November when we are planning to give it away as a free download. Thank you to everyone who has listened to it and shared it with their friends, we are really grateful and have received some really good feedback.

Pushing on, we can now reveal that the next EP track to go up on the Myspace is ‘Shoot You Down’. Being a personal favourite of ours, we are very pleased to have this on the EP, and it is particularly enjoyable to play live. We hope you all get a chance to listen to it and enjoy it as much as you have ‘The Rider’. Once again, it would be wonderful if you could all spread the word- introducing just one person can make a massive difference!

Finally, I would just like to give a little plug to our gig on the 29th of October at Proud Gallaries in Camden, a really great venue! This is going to be our first gig with Richard in the band. We have been rehearsing a lot with Richard recently and the tunes are really starting to sound immense so we hope you will be able to come down and show your support for the start of this new era. If that doesn’t convince you we are all having a party afterwards to celebrate!

New Line Up

It is with great pleasure that we introduce a new member of Deadwax to you all. His name is Richard and he will be playing guitar with us. Richard fills the void that has remained empty since David’s departure in February. We all owe a lot to Dave for helping getting Deadwax to where we are today and we all wish him the best for the future. Dave has recently had the pleasure to play with Adam Ant, so keep an eye on that!

We certainly feel that we have developed a lot as a three-piece but now we feel we can add another dimension to our music with an additional member and I can tell you that it is sounding great, and I am so excited for you guys to hear us. Our next gig has now been confirmed as a headline slot at Proud Gallaries in Camden on the 29th of October. It will be your first chance to hear us as a four-piece again and is promising to be a top night. It would be lovely to see as many of your lovely faces as possible. Please contact us on facebook to get onto the cheap/guestlist.

We would also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came to The Half Moon last night, you really made it a special night. We also made a lot of new friends who we hope to see a lot more of at our shows.

Finally we would also like to remind you all that the first of our EP tracks ‘The Rider’ will be available to listen to on Myspace for one week only. This is part of our promotion for our debut EP which is due for release on December 6th, and gives you the chance to hear all the tracks before the EP is released, so keep checking back.

EP Release Date Announced

So the EP has finally been recorded and I can now tell you all that we have confirmed a release date. The EP will be released officially on Monday 6th December and will be available to download online, or purchased on CD format at one of our shows. It has been a long time coming, but we think the extra time we have taken has been well worth it. Although you wont be able to download the EP until December 6th, we will be giving you the chance to listen to all the tracks before they are released.
Starting from Monday 11th October we will be posting up one track from the EP per week to our Myspace, starting with ‘The Rider’ before taking it down and replacing it with another track, which again will be left up there for a week. This will all culminate with a free download of ‘The Rider’ on 15th November. After that, its all systems go for the release of the full EP on December 6th.
With so much to do it is going to be a very busy couple of months in the lead up, so keep checking the Myspace regularly as there will be a lot of changes on the web site, and also some big exciting news which we are set to announce next week. Also this the last chance to get in your suggestions for the title of the EP. We have had some good suggestions, but we are always looking for more. You can send them to deadwax@live.co.uk or post them on our facebook page. We will update you with more details as soon as we get them.
Finally I would also like to say a big thank you to all those who came down to Tommy Flynn’s last friday and The Hawley Arms on Sunday, we had a lot of fun. Our next gig is on Friday 8th October at The Half Moon in Putney, on stage at 9pm. It would be great to see you down there. Fun times definitely to be had, if not Tom has offered to buy quavers and toffee crisp’s for the disappointed :-p

Last few weeks…

You may of all noticed that all has been quiet in the last couple of weeks on the Deadwax front, this has been for a number of reasons. First and foremost we have all been very busy in the studio mixing our debut EP, which is still without a name. Finally we have the mix going in the right direction, but there is still a fair amount to do. It feels as if this has taken forever, but hopefully it will all be worth it.

Secondly, James our bass player has been rather unwell recently, which has led to a few cancellations of shows. For those who turned up to expecting to see us at The Enterprise and The Monarch in Camden as well as Walkabout in Wimbledon we are very sorry but it really was taken out of our hands and we had to withdraw. James is however a lot better now and so our next show will be at Hamswell Festival in Bath. This is a really great independent festival with a great vibe and lots of activities alongside 3 days of live music. Deadwax will be playing on the Friday (13th August) at 9.30pm. Our good friends and fellow Twickonians Klezma Villanova will also being playing at the Festival, playing on the Saturday. To buy tickets and to view the line up click this link http://www.hamswellfestival.com/

Finally I would like to also say a big thanks to all those who have mailed us suggestions for our debut EP title, however we are still looking for more suggestions so please keep sending them to deadwax@live.co.uk.

Keep checking back for more updates during the run up to the release of our debut EP.
